Closing Ceremony of Advanced Microsoft Office Application Training held at UCMT

The closing ceremony of Advanced Microsoft Office Application Training was held at Multipurpose Hall, UCMT for the purpose of enhancing office work-related computer skills and supporting e-government initiatives. The ceremony was opened at 15:00 pm and Dr. Yi Yi Win, Rector delivered the opening remarks. At her speech, our university is implementing e-government implementation work committee’s guidelines, policies and procedures aiming for continuous improvement year after year. In accordance with the directives of the Ministry, our university is utilizing the Myanmar E-Governance Master Plan 2030 developed by the Ministry of Transport and communications in e-government processes and e-service via online and this training is also intended for the staff to be able to apply effectively office work-related computer skills in their workplace and to support the executions of e-government tasks. According to the Action Plan for the Fiscal Year 2023-2024, this training program is led by ICT department from October 23rd to October 31st ,2024, each session lasts two hours and totally 14 hours. The participants were encouraged to engage actively in the training to build a powerful administrative framework to be able to deliver information efficiently to the public, facilitating seamless interdepartmental management and collaboration and reducing operational costs. Since 2016, the university has been conducting e-government training programs, which have included for basic computer training sessions, one GPMS software training session, one capacity building program for online teaching and learning and one EDMS software training session, totaling seven sessions attended by 330 university staff members. The Advanced Microsoft Office Application that has just opened in 2024 included 18 teachers and 13 staff totally 31 participants from teaching and administrative departments.
Under the guidance of the Ministry and the e-Government Implementation Work Committee, the university has also established 34 Access Points for MPT Fiber Internet (100Mb), developed its own domains and websites, entered staff information into the GPMS software, conducted electronic document management with the EDMS software, and offered free online certificate courses via a Learning Management System (LMS). Furthermore, Our University’s website is regularly updated, and online meetings are conducted via video conferencing, and SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certification is maintained to ensure website security. The rector encouraged all staff to collaborate and contribute to the effective implementation of e-Government initiatives, it is crucial to enhance staff competencies to deliver high-quality government services widely and efficiently. The training is designed to be beneficial for participants, providing essential computer skills applicable in real work environments. Rector, Pro Rectors, department heads, acting department heads, subject-in charge, faculty members from ICT department, trainees, teachers and staff attended the closing ceremony.
